Regular play will not only give the children their needed physical activities, as would the need of adults to have a daily chore or regular work, but also a venue to develop their personality, emotional capability, and even overall traits, that will help them in coping with the world that they live in as they grow. 

Wood crafted educational toys, aside from being painstakingly developed to encourage learning and discovery among children, are also painstakingly created and manufactured (mostly by hand). The fact that most wooden educational toys are hand made account for their bigger value, both in price and in terms of instrinsic worth. 

Schools have started to incorporate educational toys to their teaching methods, especially to preschoolers, because of this. With educational toys, not only children, but also parents, are changing their minds about the importance of toys as educational tools. Sure, they may come with a hefty price tag, but the expense is all worth it. 

Jakks Pacific, under its Child Guidance brand, released its own line of children's educational toys and games following a deal with Baby Genius. Hasbro released its Baby Einstein line and unveiled its preschool units, namely the Baby Einstein Company and Playskool. These new toys encouraged children to dabble in art, music, different foreign and local languages, and even poetry. 

While children's educational toys do not aim to replace the actual presence of a parent, it is able to temporarily fill a void. It is for this reason that toy manufacturers have taken great pains and conducted deep research into a child's learning levels and capacities in order to come up with an educational toy that would be a fount of knowledge. 

Aside from being a source of joy, play feeds and develops a child's personality and helps him or her grow into a person that knows how to maximize his or her potential and make best use of his or her talents. Perhaps this is why toy manufacturers have taken to producing a wide range of educational toys - to fill this need.
